LSEG Workspace Excel Add-In Access

Access the Excel Add-In

LSEG Workspace has an Excel Add-In that can be useful when trying to download data for a large universe (e.g. 50,000 companies or deals). The Excel Add-In is also the primary way to access Datastream - see Datastream access information.

Note: You must have a LSEG Workspace account to use the Excel Add-In.
In the Trader's Pit (in person)

Available for Current Stanford faculty, staff, and students.

  1. Go to the Trader’s Pit. See signage next to the monitors for information about which terminals have LSEG Workspace installed. Log into the computer with your Stanford username and password.
  2. Select the Refinitiv in Excel shortcut on the desktop.
  3. Select the Workspace tab in the Ribbon menu.
  4. Click Sign In and enter your Stanford username and password.
In the Trader's Pit (remotely, GSB only)

Available for Current GSB faculty, staff, and students.

  1. Reserve time to use the computers remotely.
  2. Follow the instructions sent to you via email to log into the computers.
  3. Select the Refinitiv in Excel shortcut on the desktop.
  4. Select the Workspace tab in the Ribbon menu.
  5. Click Sign In and enter your Stanford username and password.
On the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (remotely)

Available for Current Stanford faculty, staff, and students.

  1. Connect to the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, using the GSB Library virtual desktop.
  2. Select the Refinitiv in Excel shortcut on the desktop.
  3. Log in using your Stanford username and password.
  4. In the pop-up box asking if you want to download S&P Capital IQ templates, select No and check the box next to "Do not show this again."
  5. Select the Workspace tab in the Ribbon menu.
  6. Click Sign in and enter your Stanford username and password.

Troubleshooting

You Don't See the Workspace Tab in Excel

  1. Close out of Excel completely. In your computers search box, search for and select Refinitiv Workspace - Excel.
  2. If you still don't see the Workspace tab, in Excel go to the File tab and in the bottom left select Options.
  3. On the left, select Add-Ins. Change the Manage drop-down menu to COM Add-ins, and press Go.
  4. Select the box next to Workspace and press OK.
  5. If you still don't see the Workspace tab, Ask Us for troubleshooting support and let us know you already tried these steps.

  • LSEG Workspace is only available to current Stanford faculty, staff, and students.
  • LSEG Workspace can only be used for academic purposes. You may not use it for any kind of commercial purposes, including internships or consulting work.
  • You may download content for specific academic research projects. Once the project is completed, the content needs to be deleted.
