Demographics Sources

Do you need to identify an area to beta launch a new service or product? Do you need to understand how many women in their 20s-30s are in high-income households to demonstrate the market for a new baby product?

The following databases contain a wealth of demographic data to help answer the above and similar questions.

U.S. Demographic Data

Most of these sources rely heavily on U.S. Census data, but these platforms can be easier to use and integrated related data.

  • Social Explorer
    • Easily create maps and tables of many datasets, including the U.S. Decennial Census, American Community Surveys, and more. Use the Market Profile Data tables to get commonly used demographic data and more.
  • SimplyAnalytics
    • Best when wanting to overlay multiple variables. Data analysis and mapping tool with U.S. demographic data and more. Includes EASI Lifestage profiles. Integrates many helpful datasets for market research.
  • PolicyMap
    • Online mapping tool with U.S. demographic, real estate, health, educational, economic, and federal government data
  • Census Business Builder
    • An app that uses Census and other government data to help businesses explore consumer demographics and spending patterns

Global / International Demographic Data

  • FitchConnect
    • Contains demographic data that is easy to pull for specific countries and/or regions around the world. In the top navigation menu, go to Data Tools > Interactive Charts.
  • EIU Viewpoint
    1. In the top navigation, go to Data.
    2. In the Browse data section expand the Demographics section to see options.
