Saving Files in the Virtual Machine or Remote Desktop Environment

If you're accessing library resources on the virtual desktop infrastructure or by remote desktoping into the Trader's Pit computers, you can save files so you can access them later on your own device.

  1. While logged into the virtual desktop or connected to the remote desktop application, save the file you want to access later.
  2. In the window where you see the virtual or remote desktop, save the file to the cloud using Google Drive.
    1. Open Chrome or Firefox and log into Stanford's Google Drive.
    2. In the upper left, click +Add > File Upload.
    3. Select the file to upload and click Open
    4. You can now log into your Google Drive on another device and access the file.

We recommend saving/sending yourself files as you go in case your connection to the remote/virtual desktop has any issues.
