Knowledge Base

From 451 Research, part of S&P Global, this database contains data about global data center facilities, including their location, ownership, facility type, capacity, power utilization, space, and new construction tracking.

Important Notes:

• You must request access to the database before you can login/access the content.
• The database provides the current quarter's release of the data. If you need historical data, try 451 Research Data Center Knowledge Base Historical Dataset (see Redivis access help).
• It is available for current Stanford faculty, staff, and students for Stanford-related academic research and teaching.

Connect to the Database:

1. Launch the Data Center Knowledge Base.
2. Login using the account credentials you created.

View & Download the Data:

1. In the left navigation menu, select Datacenter List.
2. Above the table, click Export Results to download the full list to a CSV. 
3. Tip: If you want to filter the data before downloading, in the left navigation menu, select Data Visualization. In the tabs at the bottom of the page, select DCKB Database and you can filter by region, geography and state, data center market, data center type, and provider.

Create Your Own Charts/Maps/Tables:

1. Launch the Data Center Knowledge Base.
2. Login using the account credentials you created.
3. In the left navigation menu, select Data Visualization.
4. Use the tabs at the bottom of the screen to see the available dashboards you can customize (example: Expansions & Construction Analysis)

Get Summary Data for Leased Datacenters:

1. Select from these options in the left navigation:
   1. Country Level Data
   2. Regional Summary (global regions, like Europe or APAC)
   3. Leased DC Market Share (breaks down market share by geographic area and companies)
