Redivis Accounts & Access

Redivis is a data platform used to store and query some research data at Stanford GSB. See examples of data available in Redivis.

Most of our datasets on Redivis are not visible to the public. This means that to see details about the datasets and request access to them, you need to:

  1. Have a Redivis account.
  2. Be a member of the GSB Library's organization on Redivis.

If you do not do the above, you may see "Dataset not found" messages when you try to follow a link to a dataset on Redivis.

Requesting Access to GSB Data on Redivis

To access a GSB dataset in Redivis, you need to:

  1. Create or sign into your Redivis account.
    1. In the Select Institution text box enter Stanford University and click the arrow.
    2. Sign in with your Stanford SUNet credentials.
    3. Your account's email, name, and username should be automatically filled out. Click Create account.
  2. Be a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Library organization in Redivis.
    1. Go to the Stanford Graduate School of Business Library's Redivis page.
    2. In the upper right, click Join organization. If you're already a member, the button will say Manage membership.
    3. Click Submit.
    4. Our staff will review the request; typically within one business day.
      1. We may email you requesting more details about your project to give you access to the data you need more efficiently.
      2. We'll let you know when we're approving access, and you'll also receive an automatic email from Redivis confirming you have been approved as a member of our organization.
  3. Locate a dataset (view the list of datasets). Click on one to view more details.
    1. Depending on the dataset's permissions, in the upper right you may see a View access or Apply for access button.
    2. If you need to apply, follow the prompts and we will get back to you as soon as possible; typically within one business day. We may need you to electronically sign a Data Use Agreement, which we will send you and then provide you access once it is signed.

Export Restrictions

Some datasets have restrictions on how much data can be exported and/or restrictions on where the data can be exported, due to the dataset's license terms.

If you are trying to download/export data and see a notice saying Exports are restricted, click the Request approval button and follow the prompts. We will get back to you shortly.

Troubleshooting

"Dataset not found" error

  • Make sure you are logged into your Redivis account. Use the Log in button in the upper right and try again.
  • Make sure you are a member of the Stanford GSB Library organization using the instructions above and try again. If you only just applied, you will continue to see this error message until we approve your request.
  • Some datasets are only visible to authorized individuals. If you're still getting the error, contact the Data Coordination team.
