Press Releases (Newswires) Sources

Press releases are one type of content included in newswires. NexisUni, Factiva, and Global Newsstream have newswires from the US and worldwide. They include the PR Newswire, Business Wire, GlobeNewswire (not in ProQuest), and Associated Press (AP) Newswires.

Note: Scraping these sources is not permitted. TDM Studio provides access to the underlying data in Global Newsstream (and more). Ask Us for more information.

Factiva

  • Connect to Factiva.
  • Note: Saving searches or enabling email alerts isn't available in our Factiva subscription.

Search all press releases:

  1. In the top navigation, select Search.
  2. Expand the Subject box and search or browse for Press Release and click it to add to the search (see picture).
  3. Add other search constraints and keywords and press Search.

Search a specific newswire(s):

  1. In the top navigation, select Search.
  2. Expand the Source box and search for the name of a specific press release service like PR Newswire (see picture).
  3. Add other search constraints and keywords and press Search.

Nexis Uni

Search all press releases:

  1. In the top search box, enter newswire and select All Newswires and Press Releases from the auto populated results.
  2. Add other search constraints and keywords and press Search.

Search a specific newsiwre(s):

  1. In the top search box, enter the name of the newswire(s) like PR Newswire and select it from the auto populated results.
  2. Add other search constraints and keywords and press Search.

Global Newsstream

Search all press releases:

  1. Above the search box on the home page, select Advanced Search.
  2. In the Source Type box select Wire Feed (wire feeds will include but are not limited to press releases).
  3. Add other search constraints and keywords and press Search.

Search a specific newswire(s):

Option 1:

  1. Above the search box on the home page, select Advanced Search.
  2. Enter the name of the newswire in one text box and to the right change the dropdown to Publication title - PUB (see picture).
  3. Add other search constraints and keywords and press Search.

Option 2:

  1. Above the search box on the home page, select Advanced Search.
  2. In the Source Type box select Wire Feed (wire feeds will include but are not limited to press releases).
  3. Add other search constraints and keywords and press Search.
  4. On the left of the results, under Publication Title select specific publication(s).

Why Press Releases?

You can use press releases to: 

  • Keep track of business announcements and key events

  • Compile a database of events not collected elsewhere for research purposes
