PitchBook Access

PitchBook is only available to current Stanford students, faculty, and staff for academic purposes. If you recently graduated, you no longer have access.

Access PitchBook

As of 9/24/2024, we have moved to accessing PitchBook with an SSO (single-sign on) integration. This means that when you use the links on the library's website to connect to PitchBook, you will be prompted to enter your Stanford SUNet and password and be automatically redirected to PitchBook.

Common Issues

Error Messages When Trying to Log In - "Single Sign-On authentication was unsuccessful."

If you see this or a similar error message when trying to log in, open a new incognito/private browser and then use this link to connect to PitchBook. This should solve any problems being caused by an old link that no longer works or any browser cache/cookies issues.

If you still have an issue and are currently a student/staff/faculty member at Stanford, please copy the text of the error message and let us know.

"Content Unavailable" or "Upgrade" Error Message

If you see either "Upgrade" or "Content Unavailable. This profile contains third-party licensed data which is not available in your subscription due to market-access restrictions" that means we do not have access to that content. Certain content, like some data provided by third parties, are not available to academic accounts. Please try an alternative resource like the ones listed on the VC/PE Research Guide or Ask Us for more guidance.

Restrictions

Users can download 10 lines of data per day and 25 lines per month. Screen capturing is prohibited. There is nothing we can do to enable more downloads; nor is there a workaround. This restriction is in place for all of PitchBook's academic clients.

Tip: Use the pivot table options in PitchBook to analyze the data instead of downloading it.
